Week Four Review
Two thirds of build season have passed, and it is crunch time for the Gaelhawks. Each subcommittee of the team is working diligently to finish everything in time.
The awards committee finished the rough draft of the Chairman’s Award essay, Chairman’s mini essays, and Woodie Flowers award. They are now open for comments, suggestions, and revisions from mentors and students. Both are due this Thursday, so the next few days will be spent finalizing the awards and preparing them for submission. In the meantime, students have begun working on both Dean’s List essays as well as the Entrepreneurship Award, which are due the following week. We hope to finish rough drafts of these awards by Thursday, a week before the deadline.
The programming committee has retrieved data from the Pixy about target data. They have also tested the shooter, and it has successfully worked with our control system.
The mechanical committee has completed two frames with gear boxes attached. Our plan is to build the practice and competition robots simultaneously. The climber mechanism has been built and is fully functional. It has been tested successfully using weights to simulate the weight of the robot.
The electrical committee has completed the electrical board for the practice robot, and is working on the competition robot.
Team members have begun making robot heads to give out at competitions and community events.
Our team continues to prepare for competition as the deadlines approach. Make sure to check back next week for more updates!
