Reefscape

In REEFSCAPESM presented by Haas, FIRST© Robotics Competition teams will use their STEM skills and creative power to turn up the volume as they design, build, and program their robots for action-packed gameplay.

Robots can score points by grabbing and either shooting algae (kickballs) into the barge (a structure with a net above the field with cages hanging by chains), or by sending the algae to the processor, a hole from which a team member can take the algae and throw it into the barge themselves. Another way points can be scored is with coral (PVC pipes). The robot begins with one coral but can get more from the team members at the coral station. The robot will have to place the coral onto pipes on a reef (a four-leveled structure made of vertical pipes). The higher the coral is placed on the reef, the more points are gained.

At the end of the game, robot can climb onto cages under the net to get more points. There are shallow cages (cages higher above the ground), or deep cages (cages lower to the ground), which scores more points, that the teams can choose from.
