Week 6-7 Newsletter
With our official first competition approaching in Waterbury, the Gaelhawks have had no shortage of work to do in preparation for the events to come. Here’s what’s been happening over the past few weeks:
Our build committee is in the process of putting the finishing touches on our competition robot. With some adjustments to the climbing mechanism, it is on pace to be ready for testing in the near future. Additionally, the build committee is working to create spare parts for the robot in case anything breaks.
While the robot itself is being finalized, the programming committee has begun to test the parts of the robot that are currently usable. A majority of testing is currently being performed with the arm, with plans to test the climber and practice controlling the bot on the practice field, which has been completed, save for a few small pieces.
The digital marketing and outreach committees have also been busy. They organized and took photos for the DECA Fashion Show and 8th Grade Open House, which are both key events for the team to find potentially interested students to join. Digital Marketing is also working on getting the Week 7 and 8 Youtube videos out.
Scouting has successfully conducted their annual meeting, familiarizing students with the new tablet form. Additionally, both the Tableau and Pit Scouting forms are nearing completion, only requiring minor adjustments before being competition-ready.
The Awards committee has submitted all awards and finalized their business plan. They are currently working on their FIRST Impact presentation and reviewing Gaelhawks team members’ eligibility for CIAC All-State Awards.
