Crescendo

In CRESCENDOSM presented by Haas, FIRST© Robotics Competition teams will use their STEM skills and creative power to turn up the volume as they design, build, and program their robots for action-packed gameplay.

Robots can score points by shooting Notes (foam rings) into the speaker (a box high above the floor with a hole on the bottom on each side of the field) and the amp (a box with a hole in the side that is also on each side of the field). After shooting a few notes into the amp, the points given by shooting notes into the speaker can be amplified.

At the end of the game, robot can climb on chains attached to the stage (a big three-legged structure in the middle of each side of the field) to get more points. Climbing on the same chain as another robot from your alliance gives more points. There is also a human player that can throw “high notes” onto the microphones (poles on top of the stage). If these high notes land on the microphone that corresponds with the chain that a robot has climbed on, more points are granted for climbing. If a robot does not climb the chain, a point is still awarded for parking under the stage.
